My kids and I (teenagers and young adults) enjoyed our tour immensely. Captain Pippi shared a wealth of knowledge about the history of Daufauskie and the Gullah people. Her love for the island was evident. The boat ride there and back was also fun. I look forward to going again with my husband soon.

This was such a cool experience, and Doreen was amazing! I can't say enough good things about her energy and story-telling ability. Daufuskie was so interesting - truly a best-kept secret. I was ill-prepared for the bumpy boat ride to and from (esp. at 6 months pregnant), but Doreen took good care of all aboard. Bring lots of sunscreen any time of year you go, and stay well-hydrated. I'll be better prepared next time :) Thank you for such a great tour!

Four stars because of captain Doreen but Not For The orthopedically Challenged. The boat that is used to get you from Hilton head to Daufuskie is not much better off than the small fishing boat in which I imagine the old man and the sea to be wrestling the giant fish! You sit on a bench facing one another, have no back support whatsoever, and are Bouncing up and down like a tiny toddler on grandpa’s knee! But captain Doreen saves This tour by making it really interesting and being so passionate and reverent about the topic. Daufuskie is Indeed a unique place, almost kind of eerie. If you areBut not for the orthopedically challenged looking to pass for hours in Hilton head and not on the verge of a hip replacement, go for it!
